PCB!

I’m in the midst of a week long run here at the infamous Hofbrau Haus Beergarden in Panama City Beach, FL. As always the entire crew here has been spectacular to work with. They are serving up the best German food and beer around and Klancnik and I are serving up our fun mix of musical mayhem! It’s good times for all!

It’s particularly good to see our locals enjoying the scene with the tourists. Although the gulf oil spill is putting a damper on the tourist trade a bit, many are still coming down to enjoy the beaches. As of yet, the oil hasn’t reached Panama City Beach, and we’re all hoping that this disaster is contained very soon—for the sake of every aspect of life for the gulf shores. In the meantime, we’re making the best of the time here right now—enjoying the beach and the scenes of this great area…..

On a lighter note, we’ve been getting some great audience response to our new covers by Guns n’ Roses, James Brown and The Who, as well as some new traditional German/ Austrian arrangements and some tunes that I’m revisiting from the past repertoires…. Definitely looking forward to continuing to entertain through Thursday evening here in PCB…. If you’re around, c’mon down and party with us….

There’s just no place like Hofbrau Haus in Panama City Beach, especially
when Spring Break starts to roll into town…. Just had a little run up
there for the last 4 days with Klancnik on drums for some fun gigs. It’s
been really cool to see the audience grow and develop there. It’s not a
typical location on a German polka circuit, but yet, the Alex Meixner Duo
shows are really connecting with the audiences. Before the spring breakers
get into town, we get a great crowd of locals (young and old). The Germans
that live in the area have definitely embraced the Hofbrau’s great food, and
of course excellent beer– and really enjoy our repertoire. The majority of
the audience isn’t German, but they too are enjoying the mix too. Of course,
our musical repertoire is more varied than at some of the other more
traditional venues- but it’s a lot of fun to string the tunes together for
me!

As the breakers came into town, the party got even better– with Saturday
night completely rocking the house. Sunday seemed much slower, which seemed like a tame end, until our last hour which roared to an end… You bring the audience, I’ll work as hard as I can to entertain them!

Through this run, I’ve been working on some new repertoire– many of which are requests that are coming online from y’all. Some are quickly finding their way into the set list… a few are a little more challenging to adapt to my style– but keep the requests coming! I’ll have some updates on them in the coming weeks….

Keep rocking those polkas!

Despite a forecast that called for snow in the area (Am I truly writing this about FL????), I had a fun night in Panama City Beach to open up a weekend celebrating the 2nd anniversary of the Hofbrau Haus. As always, the staff at the Hofbrau is super cool to work with and makes sure everyone has a great time. Home of some of the best Jaeger schnitzel in the US, and great beer- it’s always a good place to return to! Ed Klancnik was slapping the drums and we got a chance to play some of our party favorites, as well as work in some new arrangements…
